9th Annual Back to School Event

Presented By DICK'S Sporting Goods

On September 15, Lawrence and Andrea Guy hosted their 9th Annual Back to School event where they surprised 150 students from Crossroads with new backpacks filled with school supplies to help them prepare for the upcoming school year.

Due to COVID, the event was held via Zoom — during the call they discussed the importance of education, the current challenges the kids are facing, and Lawrence encouraged the students to remain positive about the upcoming school year despite all of the obstacles they may be facing due to the pandemic. Additionally, Lawrence committed to doing monthly calls via Zoom with all 150 students to check in on their progress throughout the year.

“New England has been my home for the past four seasons and I’m extremely grateful to have the opportunity to give back to this amazing community,” said Lawrence Guy. “My foundation (The Lawrence Guy Family Foundation) hosts this event every year to make sure these kids have the best start to their school year possible. I want to thank DICK’S Sporting Goods for partnering with us on this year’s event—the backpacks are amazing and we’re incredibly grateful for their support.”

Lawrence partnered with various brands to provide the 150 students with swag for the upcoming year. Each child received:

“Lawrence is such an inspiration for our Crossroads community—and we deeply appreciate DICK’S Sporting Goods and all of the partners who responded to his call for support,” said Joanne Fay Crossroads’ Chief Operating Officer. “The pandemic has hit our families really hard and his generosity eases the financial burden that so many are facing as kids return to school. This gesture is also a powerful affirmation of our young people and the importance of starting the school year the right way despite the challenges of this public health crisis. We are proud and grateful to call Lawrence, Andrea, and DICK’S Sporting Goods members of the Crossroads family!”
